The colder months are upon us as the Fall season gets closer each day. Sure, wearing scarves and coats and drinking hot beverages are great ways to beat the cold. But during the Fall and Winter (especially), you don’t want to be that guy who keeps his coat on indoors (seriously, we know a guy). You’ll want to find the best solution to staying warm and cozy within your home.
Wall-mounted panel heaters are just the tool you need to stay warm. Panel heaters provide you with sufficient heating at the temperature you want, all while hanging conveniently on your wall. No worries about carpet damage or the possibility of the heater “overheating” (get it?). In all seriousness, wall-mounted heaters are efficient ways to properly heat your home and as an added bonus, they’re typically eco-friendly!
With that said, finding the right wall-mounted panel heater can be sort of a challenge. Many heaters have different specs, features, and builds. These types of heaters also vary in price so you’ll want to make sure you get a heater of good quality, but still have a house to heat (as in, don’t go selling your house over one!). Luckily, our guide contains some of the best wall-mounted panel heaters out there that you can choose from.

This efficient heater comes with 400W of power that can comfortably heat a space of up to 120 square feet. In addition to receiving a sufficient amount of heating, you’ll also receive lower heating bills as this heater will help you save up to 50% by only heating the spaces that are in use. While we’re talking about things that you’d like, you’ll also like that this heater uses both radiant and convection methods of heating. With its convection method of heating, heat is distributed in a healthy way with no dust or allergens blown around. This eco-friendly heater is also asbestos-free and contains no harmful chemicals or metals. You can safely use this heater around pets and children (that’s right, Snowflake can bark at the heater all day) and it’ asbestos-free mounting right out the box. Best of all, this heater heats quietly and emits no sound. The heater, available for $60 is water resistant, meaning it can be used in the bathroom. Do note the heater has been said to be a little hot to the touch (so we wouldn’t go all handy on it). Besides that, this is a great heater for your buck and worth our recommendation!
2. DeLonghi HMP1500 Mica Panel Heater
DeLonghi proves to us that powerful heating can come in an object of any size with this product. The DeLonghi Mica Panel Heater provides up to 1500 watts of sufficient heating in a lightweight design. With its slim (and stylish) design, this heater can be mounted virtually anywhere, even in places where you may not have that much space. The heater is also highly portable and easy to move with it conveniently included carry handle and castors. This heater is also easy to mount to the wall in which all you have to do is remove the feet from the base and mount it to any surface. A wall mounting kit is also included with the heater (or you can have this heater professionally installed by an expert, though it’ll cost you a hefty $333).
The heater allows you to customize your heating needs with its adjustable thermostat and two heat settings. You can choose either the high setting of 1500-watts or the low setting of 750-watt. The heater also includes a safe heat operation with thermal cut-off, an internal tip-over switch, and power/caution indicator lights. You can receive lower energy bills when you use this heater by heating only the room you’re in and by lowering your thermostat. This heater utilizes “mica-thermic” technology by producing electromagnetic waves that efficiently heat the room without a blower. Best of all, this heater will heat your room quietly so you can receive the heat with no noise. Coming in at a moderate $82, customers have consistently noted this product (as like the previous one) gets too hot to the touch. If you can get past that, this heater may be just what you need!
3. Dr. Infrared Heater Portable Space Heater
Dr. Infrared Heater shows us that it really is the “doctor” of heaters with this no-nonsense heater. The Dr. Heater Hardwired Commercial Heater is ready for business with its heavy duty and sturdy design. The heater uses spiral steel metal sheath electric heating elements with low sheath temperatures to provide uniform heat and long-lasting service. The versatile heater can be mounted on any wall or ceiling and used in many different places. Feel free to use this heater as your primary or secondary heating source for your garage or other places including factories, stores, warehouses, workshops, schools, churches, hospitals, dormitories, or any exposed areas that need heat.
The heater includes a large, dynamic 8″ fan to provide maximum airflow, but with minimum turbulence and noise, to gently distribute warmth throughout the area. The heater itself is completely enclosed and thermally protected. Its heavy-duty, ball-bearing motor features are permanently lubricated and give the heater a long life and make it low maintenance. The heater comes with a built-in adjustable thermostat that allows you to control the temperature. It even features a steel front cover with five-way adjustable louvers for easy control airflow. The ceiling and wall mounting bracket are included with the heater. Do note, this heater is priced at a high cost of $162 and the thermostat has been said to provide some difficulty. Nevertheless, if you can work through the thermostat issue, then we suggest checking out this product which, by the way, comes with a 1-year part and labor warranty!
4. VonHaus 450W Wall Mounted Electric Flat Panel Heater
We kick our list off with the brand, VonHaus who knows that a heater should be both efficient in price and efficient in, well, heating! The VonHaus Wall Mounted Electric Panel Heater offers great features that a quality heater should have. The heater features a slim, compact design, being just 3/8 inches thick which allows it to be placed incredibly close to the wall. Speaking of design, this heater even features a paintable ceramic body meaning you can paint the heater to match your interior décor! Have a blue and gray color scheme for your living room? Easily paint your heater gray to fit with your blue walls. How’s that for optimal customization?
The heater comes in at a size of 23.5 x 23.5 x 0.4 inches with a generous cord length of 66 inches. You can hang this heater up almost anywhere in your home an still find access to an outlet. Don’t worry about purchasing additional parts to set up your heater because all the fixtures and fittings are included! The best thing about this heater is that it warms up very fast, but doesn’t overheat with its cool touch edge and overheat protection. This heater is also eco-friendly and is available for an economical price of $60. One consistent flaw we saw among customers is that the heater doesn’t come with a thermostat and so keeping a proper heating temperature can be difficult. If you don’t mind pairing this product with a separate thermostat, then we recommend checking out this eco-friendly and affordable heater.
5. Best Choice Products Large 1500W Fireplace Heater
With a brand name like Best Choice Product, you can bet that you’re making the “best choice” by selecting this product. The Best Choice Products Fireplace Heater looks (and pretty many acts) like a real fireplace with its 3D flame technology and of course, heating features. The heater includes a smokeless flame effect that can be operated with a remote control to easily turn off or on. The fireplace heater uses electric heating and features dual heat settings at 750W and 1500W. If you’re entertaining guests at a Christmas party or simply want to cozy up around your fireplace-looking heater with a cup of hot chocolate and admire the virtual flames, feel free to do so!
Just when you thought this heater couldn’t get any cooler (or hotter?), it also features a durable interior steel frame and a sleek, tempered glass panel. The electric fireplace heater is large in size with overall dimensions of 35″(L) x 6″(W) x 22″(H). Thought this product couldn’t get any more efficient? Think again. The heater provides you with the option of mounting it to the wall or simply allowing it to free stand. This product doesn’t offer expert installation, so you’ll have to install this slightly heavy heater yourself. The heater (as you may have guessed) does not emit any emissions and is energy efficient. However, the heater will cost you a pricey $100. Still, we love this heater’s high-quality features and unique, stylish design and consider it worth the buy!
6. Clevr LCD Glass Panel Silent Compact Wall Mount Heater
Though a relatively new product in the world of wall mounted heater, this product is a rising star of the Clevr brand. The Clevr LCD Glass Wall Mount Heater features a sleek, contemporary design that will certainly sit well in your room and even enhance your room decor. The heater is made primarily out of tempered glass and features an LCD touch screen panel with a remote so you can visibly see and adjust your heat settings. This sleek heater can be easily mounted on the wall or can be left to stand on its own if you don’t feel like hanging it up. Besides being made of durable glass, this heater is even water-resistant so you can feel free to heat up the bathroom (or other areas where water may be involved).
This product gets even better. The heater features an X-Shaped aluminum heating element which heats up an area more efficiently and quickly. This efficient heater also comes with an environmental temperature display and 24 hours timer. The heater nicely features an electronic sensor thermostat and comes with overheat protection (so you won’t have to worry about this device catching fire). With a power selection from 750 to 1500W, this heater has high-heating capabilities. This affordably priced, $70 heater produces no noise but does give off some pollution, unfortunately. If you can work around that flaw, then we certainly recommend looking into this newcomer heater.
7. Stiebel Eltron CK 15E 120-Volt Wall Mounted Heater
Stiebel Eltron has seriously made a solid heater that is perfect for any place in your home that needs heating. The Stiebel Eltron CK Wall Mounted Heater features a versatile surface mount design that allows the heater to be ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, hallways and any other location where quick heat is needed. With its design, the installation of this heater is made quick and easy and can even be installed over existing outdated heaters. That alone saves you the time and effort of removing your old heater from the wall; instead, you can now just place this heater right over top (as if it were the Bath Fitter product you see on TV).
While we’re talking design, this product contains a modernized look which makes it suit well with your decor, and even possibly enhance it! The heater’s design is compact, meaning it can fit almost anywhere. Its downdraft design gives it the ability to eliminate cold floors while it heats. With its quality construction, customers can enjoy this heater’s quiet operation and know the exact heating temperatures with the product’s built-in thermometer. Customers can select one of six different styles of this heater but should note that the price will increase or decrease depending on which they choose. For the option we selected (CK 15-E 1500 Watt), it will cost you a pricy amount of $142 (and that doesn’t include if you want it professionally installed for $333). Regardless, this product’s got some pretty great features and has a solid design, making it worth a spot on our list.
8. King PAW2422 2250-Watt 240-Volt Pic-A-Watt Wall Heater
King Electric comes right back on our list with this powerful wall heater. The King Pic-A-Watt Wall Heater shows it’s ready to efficiently heat your spaces with its offer of multiple wattage options that can be tailored to a room’s specific heating needs. You can do so with this heater’s patented Pic-A-Watt element that allows you to select between 500 to 2250-Watt at a 240-Volt upon installation. Speaking of which, the installation process takes only about 30 minutes and is done by mounting the heater to the surface of choice, choosing the wattage, and lastly installing the grill. Of course, if you have $333 to spare you can get it professionally installed.
Just like the other King Electric heater, this heater comes with the patented Smart Limit Protection that automatically shuts the heater off after an extensive period of time. The heater’s vent-style grill nicely blends in with any décor and is suitable for many rooms. The durable product is made with a heavy-duty steel heating element and blower, meaning it can provide you with a reliable operation for many years. You can also get this heater in one of three designs including Bright white, bright white ultra grille, and stainless steel. This product differs from the other product in that it includes a quieter fan. Nevertheless, there is still a small amount of noise involved; and on top of that, this product is pricier, at $120. Still, if you want a long-lasting, efficient heater, we recommend checking this one out.
9. King W2420 240-Volt 2000-Watt Electric Wall Heater
King Electric shows us it’s the “king of heating” with this product. The King Electric Wall Heater is here to provide you with a great deal of heating during the cold months with its 2000 watt/ 240 voltage heating feature. We selected the 2000 watt option for this review, but do note that you can purchase this heater in many other wattage options including 1000, 1200, and 1500W. The product also comes in two sizes as well, which include 10 x 13.5 inches or 13.5 x 10 inches (we selected the 10 x 13.5 option for this review). Setting up and installing this product is an easy feat and it has been claimed it can be done in less than 30 minutes. Of course, if you aren’t comfortable doing it yourself, you can get an expert to do it for a (pricey) amount of $333.
Now let’s move on to this product’s other features. The heater is very efficient, being able to heat up in a matter of minutes. Additionally. The heater is able to productively heat the area by combining a systematic impeller style fan with a NiChrome heating element. Left the house in a hurry and forgot to turn the heater off? Not to worry! The heater’s patented, “Smart Limit Protection” automatically shuts the power off to the heater in an abnormal event and afterward, must be manually reset for safety. This heater features a durable design and can help you save on your energy bill with its zonal heating. Costing a moderate amount of $96, this product isn’t noise free and has been said to be “quite loud.” Nevertheless, this product is warranty-backed and so we recommend giving this low-risk product a try!
10. Mr Heater 30,000 BTU Vent Free Natural Gas Heater
Mr. Heater (not to be confused with Dr. Heater) quickly changes the game up on our list by being the first natural gas heater we have yet to feature. The Mr. Heater Vent Free Natural Gas Heater runs on 30,000 BTU of natural gas to heat spaces up to 750 square feet. This heater is the perfect supplemental heating solution for even the coldest days and is conveniently equipped with a thermostat to provide you with optimal control of the temperature in your space. Turning on this heater is a breeze as well with its battery-powered electronic ignition that has the battery included (strangely, the ignition isn’t gas-powered, though we think that wouldn’t fare well anyways).
Moving on, this battery-powered heater needs to be installed on the wall, or on the floor if you wish, with its wall mounting hardware and legs nicely included. The heater is vent free, meaning there’s no need for external power, making it great for power outages and applications with no electricity. Being a blue flame heater, it warms the air and doesn’t radiate the heat like an infrared unit. The heater can be put in a narrow area since the heat rises and warms the area from the ceiling down. This heater includes an oxygen depletion sensor (ODS) that is able to automatically shut off the heater if operating at altitudes over 4,500 ft. Do note, this heater will cost you a steep $200 and is large so will require prior measuring and fitting. Generally, this product has been well received for its great heating and we definitely recommend it!
Best Panel Heater – Buyer’s Guide
Anyone who has to pay electricity bills will quickly learn that winter can be a drag. As the temperature goes down, the heating costs go up, resulting in much higher than expected bills. There are many alternatives available for lowering heating costs. Wall-mounted panel heaters are one of the most unique, modern ways to bring those energy bills down. However, don’t purchase a unit before knowing just what you’re purchasing and just how these products work. After all, any unit producing heat has certain features and functions that could be potentially dangerous if not used in the correct manner.
How Panel Heaters Works
Wall-mounted panel heaters work through convection heating. Convection heating is the process of moving heat from one place to another via the use of fluids or gases. All wall-mounted panel heaters use this method, as it is the most cost-efficient and one of the safest. This also allows the heaters to operate at significantly lower temperatures. The heating coil can also be much smaller. Wall-mounted heating panels typically use a much smaller heating unit, and a surface area for the device that can be relatively tiny and thing, yet wide. Ceramic panel heaters use ceramic as the heating element, wherein the electric coils slowly heat up the ceramic, which heats but does not burn or become too hot to the touch like a metal unit.
Generally speaking, because these units do not use fans, they also do not dry the air, allowing for the retention of humidity. The units work by heating the air around them. Hot air will move up past the back of the unit and out over the top. As the hot air naturally rises, cooler air moves in to take its place. This creates air movement naturally, and the cycle will flow fairly quickly, leading to an air temperature that slowly, but surely rises. These units may take much longer to heat a room than a heating coil unit with a fan, but it will do so with much less electricity consumption.
Typical concerns with these products focus mainly on fire and burn safety. As these units are designed to be small and unencumbered, they tend to have very little covering. Their design means that they do not heat up to the point of becoming scorching, but they will also become hot to the touch if touched for too long of a period. The ceramic units will heat up to 195 degrees Fahrenheit, meaning that they will be undoubtedly hot to the touch, but will not burn unless they come into contact with the skin for too long. These units do not sit directly on the wall. There is space between them and the wall to keep them from causing damage to the wall, and to allow the unit to work by drawing in the air behind them. Concerns about fires are generally unfounded, as these units are typically not hot enough to start combustion on a wall, especially when they are not in direct contact. However, it is always best to ensure that nothing is leaning up against the unit, as the outside can still get to just under 200 degrees. Few things in your home will catch fire at this low temperature. Even paper does not ignite until it reaches nearly 220 degrees Fahrenheit. Regardless, playing it safe with these units is always the best idea.
There’s only one, solid truth about wall-mounted panel heaters: you’ll either hate it or you’ll love it. The ceramic panel heaters, in particular, have a very love/hate relationship with current customers. For almost all of them currently available, customer opinions are a mixture of 50% extolling the products to the utmost degree, and 50% mixed on the products. You’ll notice that the complaints about these products are fairly consistent. Those who rate the products in the 3-1 star rating tend to have concerns over the outer casing facing away from the wall. Many of these customers claim that the ceramic shell heats up to a not insignificant degree, which, consequently, is counter to the claims that every product maker proclaims. Taking the 4s and 5s into account, however, well over 60-70% of reviews are favorable. You’re more likely than not going to love adding a wall-mounted heater in at least one (if not several) rooms in your home.
